68 paved miles looping through the granite core of the Black Hills, taking in Iron Mountain Road and the Needles Highway. The signature features are spiraling pigtail bridges and six one-lane rock tunnels cut so tightly that oversized vehicles cannot pass; expect blind corners, sharp switchbacks and frequent stops for bison and mountain goats. The Needles Highway section is closed through the winter months.
