Coronado Trail Scenic Byway

123 paved miles of US 191 between Clifton and Springerville, climbing out of Arizona high desert into the White Mountains. The southern half is a relentless sequence of tight, low-speed switchbacks with minimal guardrail and no services; the northern half opens into high forest and meadow. Snow closes or restricts the higher sections in winter, and the road is generally unsuitable for large trailers.
