The Anest Iwata Turnpike Hakone — the Hakone Turnpike, run by Hakone Turnpike Co. — is a toll road that climbs a ridge from Hayakawa in Odawara to Daikanzan, where the Anest Iwata Sky Lounge sits near a summit of about 1,000 metres with views of Mount Fuji, Lake Ashi and Sagami Bay. It follows the route Toyotomi Hideyoshi is said to have taken to besiege Odawara. Kanagawa's official tourism site gives the engineering: a 9-metre carriageway, about two metres wider than a typical road, and a minimum curve radius of 100 metres against the 50 common on mountain roads. Its Japan Tourism Road Association listing describes it as a well-loved touring road by car and motorcycle enthusiasts and a frequent location for automotive media shoots, test drives and meets.
