The second Raptor dropped the SVT badge and the V8, replacing it with a 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 and a 10-speed automatic on the aluminium-bodied F-150. Losing the V8 was unpopular at announcement and largely forgiven once people drove it, because the long-travel Fox suspension and terrain modes made high-speed desert running something you could do from the showroom floor. It is the truck that convinced the rest of the industry a factory prerunner was a real segment.
