Hells Canyon Scenic Byway

218 paved miles looping through northeast Oregon from valley floor to mountain top and down to the rim of North America's deepest canyon on the Snake River. The byway mixes fast open runs across the Wallowa Valley with long climbing grades and tight canyon-wall curves. Higher sections above the valleys are snowbound in winter, and the spur roads toward the canyon rim are seasonal.
