72 miles of two-lane Highway 1 hugging the cliff edge between the Carmel area and San Simeon. Continuous curves with the ocean directly below, narrow shoulders, and a run of high bridges including Bixby Creek. Fog rolls in most afternoons and there are long stretches without fuel or cell service.
